Sean Lewis & Jina Lee of OTJ Architects’ Studio 4 recently participated in a Press Conference with Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Executive Director of the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization (OPEFM) Allen Y. Lew regarding the revocation efforts scheduled for the Bald Eagle Recreation Center.
“I wanted to again assure the community here as well as the dedicated boxing coaches that the renovations to Bald Eagle and the improved boxing facilities are indeed on the way,” said Mayor Fenty. “I am confident that our team will create one of the best youth boxing facilities in the region.”
The modernized facility will receive significant space reconfiguration to meet current programming needs as well as accessibility upgrades to meet all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Other improvements will include:
• Mechanical systems upgrades
• Refurbishing of interior finishes (floors, walls, ceilings)
• 2 ADA bathrooms
• New kitchen, dark rooms, trophy display, storage upgrades
Construction of a new 5,500 SF Boxing Annex—
• Self-contained MEP
• One large competition ring, 2 smaller practice rings
• Reception/lobby, bathroom, office, warm-up areas
• LEED Silver Certification
OTJ Architects is proud to be a part of the historic Bald Eagle Recreation Center’s renovation project, which is slated to have a ground breaking in July of 2010 and projected completion date in June of 2011.
